My Anchor
I’m new to blogging. My blogging experience thus far has consisted of following some of my friend’s blogs. I enjoy writing about things, but as an accountant by trade, I don’t have a whole lot of avenues to channel creative energy. I thought this would be a expressive outlet for me as I go through my life. 2018 has been one heck of year of surprises for Scott (my husband) and I; some good, and some bad, but all have taught lessons and brought people into my life that have made me who I am today.
When this idea hit me recently, I immediately thought – “Am I really that self absorbed?” (Um..Probably – ha ha) “Would random strangers actually care what’s on my mind?” (Probably Not.) Maybe only my husband and a few devoted friends will ever read this blog, but who knows, maybe I might have something to say that someone might find interesting. So with that – I am taking that proverbial leap of faith and diving in!
So who am I? I’m Patti. I am from the sunny state of Florida, and transplanted to the even sunnier state of Arizona, with a brief stop in Bakersfield, California, which led us back to Phoenix. Not sure where I will end up in this life, but I can’t wait to find out!
I got the title of my blog oddly enough from a cardboard drink coaster I used at a restaurant a few months ago. It was a nautical themed place and all the coasters had nautical flags on them. Mine was striped red and yellow and said “Dragging My Anchor.” I kept the coaster for some reason, and it kept resonating with me. My life is anchored, on a set of core beliefs. But sometimes I stumble in life and start dragging the rope attached to that anchor. I never get very far before I realize the anchor is there for a reason. To keep me anchored. To keep me close to what’s important. That anchor keeps me from being lost in a sea of bad choices, and keeps me safe. I’ve heard the phrase “God is my copilot.” I say God is my anchor. He is my strength in the turmoil and drama of life.
Thanks for reading! If you made it this far, I want you to know that it means the world to me that you took the time! Hope you enjoyed it!
More to come later…
